Back to running after two months off. I'm really motivated and that's a good start. Monday is the easy day but it felt like a tempo workout. I felt really tired and miserable. And now I'm sore...Not cool at all, but I know that in two weeks I'll feel better and faster!!!

1.5 + 5 + 3 miles for today! I feel way better!!! The 1.5 is the run home from the gym, the 5 miles is the new 8K race-course we're hosting in April. The 3 mile run included 200 pushups and 200 situps (40 each at each corner of the park). I would recommend this workout, it really builds character. I feel good, ate good food today and I'm ready for more running.

Welcome. What was the race for the winning relay team?

From Laszlo on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 23:12:32

It was one of the Ragnar relays, the one in Arizona. Well, we (actually I only drove the van) won the Public Service division. The overall winner was a fastrunningblog.com team with a 5:38 average pace!!!

From Adam RW on Thu, Mar 06, 2008 at 09:10:47

I realized that after I read Sasha's comment to you for the previous day. I was on that team. Here's a different question what level do you teach?

From Laszlo on Thu, Mar 06, 2008 at 10:20:56

I'm a level 1 USATF coach but I've been coaching folks for 7-8 years. We have a good size running group, the fastest guys are around 2:40 marathoners. Most of them train for local events or run for fitness. So nothing fancy, my goal is to learn more about running/coaching. Here is our fine group:) www.bluepantsracing.com. Have a great day!

It's really hot today! Bad news all day long... The lupus walk is scheduled on the same day as the disabled kids' try-athlon hosted by our club. The bike portion has to be moved from a great park course to a horrible parking lot. We're expecting 100+ kids with different disabilities and now I have to let them down...

It looks like we'll have a new 1 mile race at the Pima Air and Space Museum! Great running between a bunch of historic airplanes and spacecrafts!

Lot of running again: 3.4 miles from lunch with the Mrs. to home, 1.6 from home to Mike's crib and 4.5 threshold with Blue Pants Racing (1 minute pickups every 2 minutes).

11 easy miles with Mike. I had to stop and walk for 10-15 minutes after 5 miles, but I felt okay. I'm really sore right now and I have to run 13 miles tomorrow. But I'm happy that I'm back after not running for two months!!! I feel good, I eat good, all I have to do is sleep more. Today was a great day, we went to pick out the food for the wedding. We had to pick from 7-8 fabulous dishes, one better than the other. Great food and a lots of it:). Okay, I have to go to bed!

I felt good, the weather was nice and we had a big group again. After the run we went to Frank's. If any of you are in Tucson I'll take you out for a free breakfast to this outstanding establishment! Let me know:) Their motto is "Elegant Dining Elsewhere". Maybe we'll run 5 more miles with the dogs later...

How many showed up for the training run? Do you need me to pace? I might need the extra miles, but i will do my best to get in a lot out here. I got in quick 3.5 before dinner with Natalie and her coworker.

Hey Mike, how is San Diego? You might have to do the 1:40 pace because Dan's back is hurting again. If not just do your best. We'll have a table at the finish so it should be fun! Say hi to Natalie.

2 dog-miles this morning. Today was Frank's first training day, he has to learn how to run with us. He did very nice, didn't pull too much but he had to stop and sniff every poop. Chloe did way better, she used to run a long time ago.

I felt really sore from the previous week so I didn't run with the group. A large group again! Today was a great day, the third person registered for our 8K. At this pace we might end up with more runners than staff:)

It's my second week coming back after 2-3 month off and I'll start training seriously next week. Okay, sleep well everyone!

I did walk 4 miles today and it was great!!! I saw so much cool stuff (old cars, nice houses, people, yard-art)! And all this on the same route I drive every day. Too bad it's getting too hot for walking.

I found my route for Saturday. I will show up early and know out my first 3.7 north of Grant, then I will run with you guys, but I want to cut out on Congress, head up A Mt for 3 laps aroud the top, then back to Rillito to finish the run the group is doing. Today was my first real workout day since September. 5 miles around Reid Park, 2 minutes on, 2 minutes off. I felt great and fast. I still can't keep up with the faster guys but I'm not too far behind them.

We also decided to run a 2:37 marathon in December. As long as we train and race as a team it shouldn't be a problem.

Food: 6 biscuits, 2 eggs+1 porkchop, 2 custard filled donuts, 1 granola-bar and 1 Snapple (2500 cal). Not too good, huh?

I don't know how to attach a picture (as promissed) so I would appreciate a little help. Thanks!

2:37, we can do, we gotta start training and get everyone together. I will be gone, but you know I will be running and preparing for it.

To attach a picture, upload it onto a website like Photo Bucket and it will creat the java script to post in on here. :)

See you tonight.

From Sasha Pachev on Fri, Mar 21, 2008 at 14:42:59

To reach the goal of 2:37 marathon I would recommend running no less than 8 miles a day 6 days a week to start with, and if everything goes well, up it to no less than 10. Run all of it easy at first to get used to the mileage.

No running today...It was a really busy day with lots of driving in the heat. Today was one of the worst days of my life: my barber moved to Durango and he won't be able to cut my hair ever again. After 7 years of magical hair-masterpieces I have to find somebody else. Doug was an outstanding cyclist and mountain-biker, an overall great guy... I told him I will change but he still left me. I will never be the same.

We went to a trackmeet at night and it was fun. Lots of teams from Utah.

5 miles fartek with Mike: 4 minutes on, 2 minutes off. I was able to stay behind Michael for the first 4 miles but I fell apart right before the finish. Second faster workout after not running for a long time, maybe I shouldn't run fast at all. I feel good, I think I run faster because I've shaved my legs. It's getting really hot in Tucson, upper 80s all day long...The dog ate all the electrical parts of the A/C so it will be fun:)

No running tomorrow and a 5K race on Saturday, I hope I'll be able to break 20 mins.

Our team drove down to Vail for a small 5k. The RD wasn't kidding when he said it's a low-key event: 2 waterjugs and a box of bananas! I really like small events, they feel really homey. I've done a few of the Rock'n'roll events, you are surrounded by 40,000 people but you still feel alone and lost. Anywho, our team did great, Mike finished second OA, a the ladies got 1st, 2nd and 3rd Female. I think the awesome coaching has to do something with it! And we recruited a new BPR member as well.

I went out for a short 8 mile run with Attila. At 6PM it's still really hot but we managed to run a 7:30 average. I'm really happy with it.

No running today but I've got new shoes and I'll start training for the 2008 Tucson Marathon. We went to the Roadrunnersports store in Tempe and the Brooks Radius was on sale. I also had a $20 off coupon so I ended up with brand new shoes for $59. I've never had Brooks but I'm too old to train in racing flats so I had to buy something more cushioned. I've never had anything but Mizuno so this will be interesting. The meeting with the FBI went great, we'll have a XC race on November 8th in the greatest park in Phoenix. Kinda ironic to have a FBI sponsored race at the Native American Memorial Park... Well, more tomorrow.

Today was my first day of training! New week, new shoes and everything looks great! It was a busy day. I ran 5 miles with Mike at a 7:05 pace. The plan is to run 5 miles every day (1 day off) and bump up the mileage every two weeks. So in two weeks I'll do 6 miles every day and in four weeks 7 every day. This is for 5 months followed by three month of serious speed workouts and long runs at race-pace. The goal is to run a 2:37 marathon! That's 15 minutes faster than my PR and I'm 6 years older as well...

My new Brooks Radius are really great but my pinky toes are all red and swollen after 5 miles. I hope I'll get used to them.

Food: french toast with 1 egg OM for breakfast, 2 cheese sandwiches for lunch and a #2 from Wendy's for dinner (frosty instead of soda) and 2 sport drinks. I keep drinking these Snapple vitamin waters because the puppy likes to play with the empty bottles. It keeps him busy for hours. Maybe I should put a treat inside to keep him even more excited!

Easy run with Shey in the morning. It's really hard for me to get up at 5 and be able to run within 15 minutes. The getting up part is okay, but it takes me 2 miles to start feeling okay.

Busy day today, I have to get a new ID because I've lost the other one. I have a meeting on the local Air Force Base, it should be fun because I really like airplanes.

Laszlo! I miss running with you guys. El Paso is not that great and I am not in a great area for running either... Next week I will be babysitting all week, so I might not make any of the runs either :(

Its god to see you are getting out and putting in some miles though. Good Job and see you soon.

No running today but we've hiked from Sabino Canyon to the top od Mount Lemmon: 21 miles and 8000 feet elevation change. It was great but I swear to god I will never hike again. I was so miserable at the end that I just wanted to die. Great scenery! I want to host a two stage trail-race on this course. We'll start on Saturday, spend the night on the trail and finish on Sunday. Some parts are really hard and scary so I really have to think about it. Okay I have to take a shower because my feet are solid black and I smell bad.

10K at a decent pace. Ran the first part with Lauren, Dan and Robert and the second half with Dan. Dan is a pretty cool guy, used to design airplanes and I find that fascinating. We have a new route (loop): the fire-truck loop, from McCormick to my future fire truck and back. I hope the guy won't sell it so we can look at it every Thursday. Here are some pictures: http://tucson.craigslist.org/car/687954348.html.

5K tonight, the 10 week long City of Tucson XC season starts today. For the next 10 weeks we'll have an aquathlon (800y swim followed by a 5K) on Wednesdays and a XC race on Thursdays.

Parks and Rec XC meet: 1 mile in 5:50, 2K in 11:45 and 5K in 21:50. I wanted to run faster but it's my first race in a long time and I ended up talking to a bunch of people on the course. I really liked the course, it was very hilly and it had at least 100 turns.

4.5 easy miles on the Dove Mountain Trail. What a pretty area! It's a new community on the West side, in the Totolina Mountains. Even Tiger Woods has a house there. The lowest cost lot sells for the upper 700s so it looks like we won't move in any time soon.

I have to spend some quality time with the dogs because they really miss Lauren. Chloe won't even play, she's been looking at the front door since Friday noon. Frank doesn't really care...

I think you should just focus on coaching... I bet a lot of the reason you're feeling burned out is because of the competition. Maybe focus just on helping others reach their goals for now... like your fiancee, who needs your help to become a fast half marathoner :)

It's really far from our house but it was a great morning. And I saw a javelina family crossing the trail. The pace was around 7 going out and 6:30 coming back.

6 miles with Nick and 1 mile with the BPR folks. The county cut miles of new trails behind our house, they are building a horse-trail system but it's great for trail-running as well. It starts less than a half mile from our driveway and it's 20+miles long. Not bad.

Only 3 miles with some lame pushups. I'm pretty lucky because Sam is a giver upper like me and we cut our runs short and skip the last sets of pushups.

5 hard miles with Attila. Saw a 4-5 ft rattlesnake at the end, Attila's foot landed less than an inch from its tail.
